President's Message

Welcome to the Truckers Association of Nova Scotia.  We are a not-for-profit association rich with trucking history in Nova Scotia.  The Provincial Office is located at 8 Old Enfield Road, Enfield, Nova Scotia.  Our members work with Contractors on Provincial Government tendered road work to safely build Nova Scotia’s highways, roads and bridges.  We represent 427 members and over 900 pieces of trucking equipment.  Our members are proud and dedicated workers, living in both urban and rural settings, who are committed to excellence in the industry.

As your President, It is my role to work closely with our members, the Provincial Government (NSTIR) and the contractors we support to help create a cohesive and collaborative work environment for all.  We aim to advocate on behalf of our members when and where it is appropriate.

Each year we welcome new members to join our association during our annual membership drive (see Join TANS for information).  Becoming a member will allow members to have an opportunity to work on Government road contracts in the area in which they live and work.

As I move forward in the role of President, It is my hope that together we advance the standards for fair and equitable pay in a strong work force for our members and the industry as a whole.  I invite you to reach out to me at any time to share your vision and passion for a stronger TANS within our Province and your community at any time. We are a volunteer driven organization in our 19 counties across the Province, and as such, we recognize and value the importance of giving back to our communities in which we live and work.  I would personally like to commend the many volunteers who give of their time to help protect and preserve the mandate of TANS and our 80/20 agreement.

Again, thank you for taking time to visit our website. We hope you found it helpful and informative.  The TANS Provincial Office and the Board of Directors welcome your feedback and hope you will contact us if you need more information.  We urge all our members to get involved with their local county associations to strengthen our position in the aggregate, asphalt and transport fields and to help shape our future.  "Safety is no Accident"

Thank you,

David MacKenzie,
